Publication Policies & Ethics


Online Availability & Access

The journal is freely available online. All research articles, published in Anvīkṣā, immediately freely available to read, download and share. However, if anyone wants to use it for their own research, proper referencing and permission from the editor should be taken prior. In this regard Authors are required to agree with this policy which enables access and reuse of all published articles for the greater interest of a scholar.

Anyone may take print out of an article for his/her personal use (including research) but any sort of commercial use is strictly prohibited. Legal action may be taken (Under Copyright Infringement Act) on the person, if improper action found, by the editor.   

Article Processing Charge

No fees or charges are required from authors for manuscript submission. As the whole process will thoroughly maintained by the Department of Sanskrit, Jadavpur University; all kind of expenses will be carried solely by the University administration.

Editorial Policy

Editorial board of Anvīkṣā will only consider original, innovative manuscript for consideration of review process. Submitted manuscripts will undergo through a few processes like, (i) the quality of the manuscript, (ii) whether it meets the Aims and Scope of the journal, and (iii) the originality of the work. Plagiarism Check will be done through licensed / open source software (iThenticate, Viper etc.) and then the next process and communication will take place according to the plagiarism level. If manuscript found as per journal aims, publication policy, publication ethics with originality, then only it considers for review process. Manuscript with less originality directly rejected in first editorial review of quality and originality checking.

Peer Review

Peer review in all its forms plays an important role in ensuring the integrity of the scholarly record. The process depends to a large extent on trust, and requires that everyone involved behaves responsibly and ethically.

  • The journal employs a peer review process, where both reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the review process.
  • Every proposal submitted for the publication in Anvīkṣā, is read at least by an editor, for an initial review. If the paper agrees with editorial policies and if it proclaims to the minimum quality level, the paper will go through the review process.
  • The reviewer won’t know the author’s identity, as any identifying information will be omitted from the document before review.

    Plagiarism

    Plagiarism has been the most complicated educational evil in academic and knowledge publications, wherein contents of other authors are used by people without due acknowledgement to the original author.

    The new UGC regulations of 2018, titled the “University Grants Commission (Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2018”, brings about a special emphasis on the need for a more aware and integrity driven conduct of academicians indulging in any research or academic writing.     Editorial Board of Anvīkṣā will surely check the level of plagiarism of submitted paper through licensed / open source software. (iThenticate, Viper etc.). The next process and communication will take place according to the plagiarism level. In this regard, UGC guidelines will be strictly followed.

    Retraction Policy

    An article may be retracted on the ground-

    • If, the findings are unreliable, either as a result of major error or as a result of fabrication (e.g., of data) or falsification (e.g., image manipulation)
    • If, it constitutes plagiarism
    • If, the findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper attribution to previous sources or disclosure to the editor, permission to republish, or justification (i.e., cases of redundant publication)
    • If, Copyright has been infringed or there is some other serious legal issue (e.g., privacy)

    Archiving Policy

    Research articles, special issues and other work published in this journal are being archived by us through the use of the facilities available with us. Anyone is free to store and archive the published research work for use, but such uses must be in accordance with the terms and conditions of use i.e. with due reference to the published papers in this Journal and due credit to the authors.

    Role of Editor(s)

    The editors are responsible to improve the quality and integrity of the journal. Editors will apply their best will and practice to encourage the academic researchers indulge into the research world with the full potential.

    Editorial board will be generated from recognized experts in the field. Editors are the sole responsible persons for the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript, it may be subjected to peer review but the final decision is bound to the concerned editor.

    The role of the editors is to evaluate the suitability of submitted manuscripts for the journal, including: (i) the quality of the manuscript, (ii) whether it meets the Aims and Scope of the journal, and (iii) the originality of the work. Editors will ensure the prompt handling of the review process.

    Editor should evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors. Editors´ decision to accept or reject a paper for publication should be based only on the originality and clarity, and the study´s relevance to the aim of journal.

    Editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher. Editors will ensure that material submitted remains confidential while under review.

    Role of Reviewer(s)

    Reviewers are the main members contributing for the benefit of the journal. Reviewer assists the Editor and the editorial board in making editorial decisions while editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.
